On November 27, the ceremonial opening of the 17th China-ASEAN Expo and the China-ASEAN Business & Investment Summit was held in Nanning, China, at which Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a video message. Besides him, Thongloun - Prime Minister of Laos, Hun Sen - Prime Minister of Cambodia, Joko Widodo - President of Indonesia, U Win Myint - President of Myanmar, Rodrigo Duterte - President of the Philippines, Prayut Chan-O-Cha - Prime Mininster of Thailand, Nguyen Xuan Phuc - Prime Minister of Viet Nam, Lim Jock Hoi - Secretary General of ASEAN and Arif Alvi - President of Pakistan, a specially invited partner at this Expo, delivered speeches through video conferencing. Yang Jiechi – a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and director of the office of the Foreign Affairs Working Committee of the CPC Central Committee attended the ceremony and delivered a speech as well. Moreover, Shi Yingtao - Deputy General Manager of the Overseas Business Department of CCCG, and Kong Qi - Vice President of CHEC also attended the event.
Following the opening ceremony, Ms. Yang Jiechi and chief delegates from other nations visited the booths of CCCG and CHEC, which fully displayed the strength of these enterprises and the achievements of "widening out". Thus they established good brand images in the process.
During the Expo, CHEC signed the cooperation framework agreement on the Malaysia-China Kuantan Logistics Park project, which promoted the cooperation achievement.
On the afternoon of November 27, Ou Weihui - Chief Accountant of CHEC, signed the Cooperation Framework Agreement on the Joint Development of the Malaysia-China Kuantan Logistics Park Project with Guangxi Beibu Gulf International Port Group Co., Ltd, on CHEC’s behalf. Relying on the basic principles of mutual benefit and win-win, fair cooperation and common development, both parties, through friendly consultation, agreed to cooperate in the investment and development of the Malaysia-China Kuantan Logistics Park project, with the purpose of integrating the resources of the Malaysia East Coast Rail Line and the Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park, building a new land-see channel in west Malaysia and a logistic node in the Southeast Asia market, and creating a new development pattern where domestic and international circulations promote one another.
After the signing ceremony, Ou Weihui and Kong Qi visited the Beibu Gulf Shipping Center, accompanied by Ma Zhengguo - Vice President of Beibu Gulf Group. Both sides presented their respective industrial fields and discussed how to tap into their respective strengths in business sectors and resources. By forming a powerful alliance, they created complementary advantages and achieved win-win cooperation.
Bearing the theme “Building the Belt and Road, Strengthening Digital Economy Cooperation”, the 17th China-ASEAN Expo enhances cooperation in economy and trade, digital economy, science and technology, and health, and propels the construction of the China-ASEAN Community of Common Destiny to a new level through a set of activities like exhibitions and forums.
